You are an experienced kiter already; come to learn kite foiling in our school

If you’re already comfortable with kitesurfing and ready to take your riding to the next level, Surfing Bird in Theologos, Rhodes, is the place to learn kite foiling. Foiling opens a whole new world — earlier session starts, smoother rides, new sensations and more freedom on the water. Here’s why our school is the right place for experienced kiters to start foiling, what to expect, and how to book.

Why kite foiling?

– Ride in lighter winds: Foils lift you above chop and let you ride in conditions that would normally be too light for your regular board.

– Smoother, more efficient rides: Once you fly above the water the resistance drops dramatically — you’ll cover ground faster and with less fatigue.

– New progression and challenge: Foiling is a technical, rewarding discipline. It develops balance, board feel, and kite control in fresh ways.

– More fun and variety: From cruising to carving and exploring new lines, foiling adds diversity to your sessions.

Why Surfing Bird in Theologos?

– Ideal conditions for progression: Theologos offers reliable thermal winds in summer, sheltered stretches and areas with manageable chop — perfect to practice take-offs, touch-and-gos, and steady flights.

– Small-group and private coaching: We keep student-to-instructor ratios low to ensure fast, safe progression. Private and 1:1 lessons available for focused learning.

– Modern foil equipment: We supply a range of foils, boards and dedicated foil gear so you can try different setups and find what works best for you without buying anything up front.

– Safety-first approach: All lessons include safety briefings, launch/recover procedures, fall and emergency drills, and on-water supervision (rescue boat or quick-response coach depending on conditions).

– Experienced instructors: Our instructors are experienced with both kitesurfing and foiling and teach step-by-step, focusing on technique, balance, and safe decision-making.

Who should take a foil course?

– You should be a confident kitesurfer: Self-launching, consistent upwind riding, comfortable with controlled jumps and self-rescue.

– Good wind and board control: We ask that you feel in control in a variety of conditions; prior experience with twin tips, directional boards or winging is helpful but not required.

– Positive attitude to learning: Foiling involves a learning curve — patience and concentration speed progress.

What we teach (sample course structure)

– Intro session (half-day): Theory (foil mechanics, safety, equipment setup), land drills, water introductions with knee-to-stand transitions and short assisted flights.

– Progression day (full day): Releasing assisted mode, consistent take-offs and landings, maintaining stable rides, height control and basic carving.

– Master session (2–3 days): Consolidation of skills, higher-speed carving, board-control refinements, and safe recovery techniques.

We tailor every program to your level — many riders achieve stable flights within 1–3 days of focused instruction.
